What is your hidden superpower?

Quiet Power.jpg I recently read a book called Quiet Power, by Susan Cain, which is a book about introversion. Now, a lot of you are probably thinking, What is introversion? Well, introversion is a personality trait where you react to stimulation more strongly than extroverts. Extroverts are the people who are the life of the party, the people who enjoy loud music, and the people who can make friends at the drop of a hat. Introverts are people who prefer to be reading a book or using their iPad on the couch.

I am an introvert myself and this book really helped me learn more about my personality. At school, people always ask me, Are you OK? They ask this because I’m quiet or just staring off into space while I’m thinking. I never understood why people thought I was angry or sad, when really I was perfectly fine. Susan’s book taught me that extroverts prefer to have stimulation at all times and do not need to “recharge their batteries” by having time alone.

In my school’s science fair, I did a project on personality. It was mainly focused on Minecraft players’ level of introversion or extroversion and their preferences for playing in creative or survival mode (see my Minecraft for Dummies post). In that project I learned a lot about introversion as well as extroversion, but this book, Quiet Power, really helped me understand myself even more than I already did. I learned that introversion is my superpower. In chapter 10, The Quiet Athlete, Susan talks about how introverts who play sports are able to practice hours on end alone, whereas extroverts need stimulation from people after a certain amount of time. I thought this really fit me because if I have the drive to do something, then I  can focus on it for long periods of time without interruptions. I play basketball by myself at our local school all the time to perfect my shot.

I love being introverted; one piece of advice I have for introverts is, don’t try and be someone you’re not. Embrace your introversion and you can do great things.

And now…. The Not So Philosophical Question! Do you think you are introverted? Take Susan Cain’s Quiet Revolution Personality Test to find out. Make sure to answer in the comment box! That’s all!

He Shoots AND I’TS A TERRIFIC SAVE BY ROBO!!!!!! Me Compared to FIFA World Cup Goalies

It was the second to last game of the season and we needed a win I was the goalie and i thought that i couldn’t contribute. How wrong was I. In the end of the second half we were down 2-0 and I got put in goal for the second and in the end I had 6 saves 2 were on breakaways. In the world cup G. Ochoa was the hero of the 0-0 tie with Brazil V.S Mexico. he had 6 saves also. His saves were better than mine but we both had good saves.

ImageHe allowed 0 goals and i allowed two so he is a lot better than me.

Here are some other good goalies in the world cup.

Here is goalie Julio Cesar of Brazil

Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Daaaaaaa

I can’t believe the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup! Last night I was at my friend’s house for a sleepover and we watched the game. I can tell you the whole story. The Blackhawks were down 2-1. Bryan Bickell was making a drive. He shot the puck and he scored against Tuukka Rask of the Bruins. Desperately, the Bruins tried to score another goal to make it 3-2 but Bolland scored a goal to make it 3-2 Blackhawks. Once Bolland scored my friend and I were screaming and hugging each other. And then there were 58 seconds left on the clock. Once there was 7 seconds left, my friend and I counted down to one.

Duke vs. UNC-Chapel Hill

I’m torn between two sides. Guess where I went for spring break? That’s right…North Carolina.

And guess why I’m torn?

Both Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are in North Carolina. I like both basketball teams and they are both in the NCAA March Madness tournament. I got a Duke basketball jersey for #5 (Mason Plumlee) and then I have UNC-Chapel Hill basketball t-shirt. But I when I wore the basketball jersey for Duke almost every single shot went into the basket at my basketball class. That seriously happened. I shot a 3-pointer without jumping and it went in.

I got the jersey and the shirt at the campuses but I got the UNC shirt at the bookstore. But I got the Duke jersey at a Duke shop. When I went to Red Robin near Durham for lunch wearing a Duke hat, our waitress said, “I did not see that hat!” But then I showed her my Carolina shirt and she was like, “That’s what I’m talking about!”

I also got to see where Michael Jordan played first before the Bulls. We saw the Carmichael Auditorium at UNC.

That’s all for now. I’ll write more about other parts of my road trip in another post. Hint: Mammoth Cave, KY

Zamzee Rules – TV Drools

I am at a after school program and one of the counselors is giving out this pedometer called a Zamzee. It is this blue almost like chip and you clip it onto your pants and it measures how much you are active every day. You go onto https://www.zamzee.com/ and login to see how many points you have and how active you are. With the points you use the points to win prizes in real life so the more active you are the better. I am going to get one tomorrow and I had to think up a name for my login. I also have to create a character on the Zamzee website and you can print your picture out to hang on your wall. I think I am going to have a lot of points because I like to have as much physical activity as I can like gym at my school. Instead of watching TV when I get home from school I am going to start running around my house so I can get extra points and badges.

We lost!

I went to a basketball game for Northwestern University and they were facing Iowa. We lost unfortunately. We were rooting for Northwestern. The final score was 50 to 70. We were sitting  in a group of Iowa fans and there were these two people who kept standing up in front of us for no reason. At half-time there was this lady who did acrobatics and she jumped on a beam and did two flips and landed on her feet onto the beam. It was super cool.
